Recruitment Team
Industrus Engineering
Dear Hiring Team,
I am applying for the Industrus Graduate Program. As a final-year Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechatronics) and Bachelor of Business (Accounting) student at the University of Technology Sydney, I am eager to bring my academic background and practical experience to Industrus. I am drawn to your program because of its variety of projects and strong focus on innovation and sustainability.
A commitment to ethical conduct and accountability
During my time as an Undergraduate Site Engineer at VSL Australia, I supported inspections and site documentation on major infrastructure works. In this role, I followed strict QA/QC and safety standards to ensure compliance with engineering and legal requirements. I strive to act with integrity in all my dealings at work, which includes a personal promise to always tell the truth. I believe this commitment is central to professional engineering practice. It builds trust with colleagues and clients, and it helps create safer environments for project personnel by ensuring that risks are identified and addressed transparently.
Communication with engineers and stakeholders
At VSL, I frequently prepared technical documentation and engaged with contractors and clients. I learned to adapt my communication techniques depending on the audience. This includes presenting clear reports to managers or discussing safe work procedures with site crews. I also developed strong teamwork and communication skills through university projects, where I worked with peers and external partners such as Engineers Without Borders.
Engaging with a creative, innovative and proactive environment
In my capstone Mangrove Restoration Design Project, I collaborated with Dawul Wuru Aboriginal Corporation through Engineers Without Borders as the intermediary to design a sustainable seedling protection system. This project challenged me to think creatively, test designs, and present innovative solutions. I thrive in environments that value focused and analytical processes to generate new ideas, which I believe aligns with your company’s culture.
Using and managing information
During my internship at VSL Australia, I supported tender preparation and business development tasks, which required gathering data, reviewing technical drawings, and managing large sets of information under short deadlines. To meet these demands, I systematically collected information, preparing them, and displaying them in easy-to-understand formats. For example, producing tables with clear heading, that would collect information. This ensured proper assistance with tender submissions.
I have also applied these skills at UTS, managing five subjects in a semester. This is above the standard four. By planning assessments, structuring my deliverables, and tracking milestones on a physical white board calendar, I maintained a WAM of 80.
Managing my own performance
Balancing part-time study with part-time work has taught me how to prioritise, stay organised, and consistently deliver quality results. I accomplished this by planning out my tasks for the semester at the start of the semester. I hold a WAM of 80 while working part-time, which shows my ability to manage performance under pressure and maintain high standards.
Teamwork and leadership
At Amazon, I was promoted into a junior leadership role where I trained new staff and led safety briefings. On engineering projects, I have often supported the site crew by being teachable and willing to assist where possible. My ability to listen and willingness to help was a valuable element that ensured the operations personnel had the required support. These experiences have shown me how to contribute effectively as a team member and lead when required.
The experiences and skills mentioned above demonstrate that I exceed the criteria for this role. I am excited about the opportunity to rotate across Industrus projects, learn from mentors, and contribute to projects that make a real difference in communities. Please find my resume attached. Please feel free to call me or send me an email if you have any questions or are interested to connect.
Thank you
Kind regards,
Vearinama
